Slievemore Clinic offers the world-renowned Amelan treatment, which successfully treats common skin pigmentation problems.
Developed by Dr. Krulig, a plastic surgeon in Venezuela, Amelan is a single mask that treats melasma, pigmentation and sun damage in 1 month.
Pigmentation is a frequent complaint.
Skin ageing, hormonal disorders and sunbathing without SPF (sun protection) are the most common causes.
The basis of the mask – Amelan affects the melanogenesis process. Amelan has a direct affect on the intimate formation process of the pigment (melanin) and is based on the inhibition of tyrosinase (a basic enzyme in the melanin formation process)
Several of the key ingredients kojic acid, phytic acid, ascorbic acid, arbutine, titanium dioxide, and retinyl palmitate act by blocking the enzyme.
The Amelan mask is applied, then after up to 4-6 hours the client removes the mask themselves at home with cold water and a cotton pad in slow gentle movements.
Once the mask is removed the face is usually quite red ad can feel itchy.
For 2 days a nourishing moisturiser is applied (Hydra Factor K)
After 2 days the client returns to the clinic for a check up and given the Amelan M home care cream. (This is a weaker version of the Amelan mask)
The face needs to be cleansed every time Amelan M is applied, only a thin layer of Amelan M is needed all over the face.
Apply three times a day for the first week then twice a day for the second week and once a day for the third week.
However if the pigmentation or melasma is severe then it is recommended that Amelan M home care cream is applied for up to three months.
First and second day: The skin may turn red during the first 2 days of treatment. If the skin is sensitive, the patient may experience an itching feeling.
This is normal especially during the first 24-48 hours after starting the treatment. To relieve these problems it is advisable to apply Hydra factor K whenever necessary.
Flaking may occur on all skin types between the second and third day. In this case it is advisable to apply the Hydra Factor K cream, repeating this every two hours on the day when the flaking is most intense.
The skin begins to improve one week after the treatment; however, the best results are seen between 7-28 days and are successful in 95% cases.
Pigmentation marks are eliminated and the skin is rejuvenated restoring its smoothness and luminosity.
Slievemore clinic combines meticulously high standards with advanced clinical expertise to offer a broad range of effective treatments for the face and body.
Melasma is a relatively common disorder of hyperpigmentation that affects sun-exposed areas of the skin, most commonly the face.
It most often affects women, and is particularly prevalent in women with darker complexions who live in areas of intense ultraviolet radiation exposure.
