Many people are frightened, nervous or reluctant to take the initial step of consulting someone about a personal problem. There is perhaps a sense of shame or failure. Yet very few people get though life without having some period of problems. Unfortunately there are large numbers of people in this culture who suffer from the range of alcohol problems. Sadly too many are ignorant of the fact that alcohol is interfering significantly with their health and well-being.  So many emotional, health and family issues are created by too much alcohol or use of illicit drugs or misuse of prescription drugs. Counselling can help greatly.

Counselling for alcohol/drug problems is handled professionally and discretely at the Slievemore Clinic. The approach is designed to make patients and their families feel comfortable and able to talk about difficult problem areas.

The first session is about assessing risk and the extent of the problem. It is also about the Counsellor being assessed by the patient to see if he might be able to help. Patients with alcohol problems attend as do spouses and other family members if and as necessary. Family members can attend in their own right so that he/she can benefit from counselling to help  cope and make decisions to improve life.

Private fees are charged. Some tax can be reclaimed if the invdividual is referred by a 'Medical Consultant'.
