Rolande -Profile

Rolande Anderson qualified as a Social Worker in 1978. He was educated at Mount Temple Comprehensive School and Trinity College, Dublin. He worked on the Alcohol/Chemical Dependence team in St. Patrick's Hospital for almost 20 years as an Alcohol/Addiction Counsellor. He was the Assistant Director of the Programme there for nine years as well. He was also the Assistant Director of the Rutland Centre from 1997-1999. He works in private practice part-time on both the north and south sides of Dublin and he is also the National Alcohol Project Director for the Irish College of General Practitioners. he has contributed many articles and chapters on alcohol and related topics in all aspects of the media. He wrote a chapter in the best selling book on alcohol by Dr. John Cooney, "Under the Weather". He has a particular interest in the impact of alcohol on the family and in Employee Assistance Programmes. He has lectured and conducted workshops extensively at home and abroad. He was a founding member of the Irish Association of Alcohol and Addiction Counsellors  and their first Public Relations Officer. He remains an accredited member of 1AAAC and is also a member of the Irish Association of Social Workers. He was Chairperson of the Social Work section of the International Council on Alcohol and Addictions for a five year period in the 80's. He has many and varied interests outside the work arena.

He offers patients and their families a professional counselling service designed to improve their health and well-being in general and to help cope with alcohol problems and other addictions.
