Allergy and Patch Testing
Skin Prick Allergy Testing is the appropriate testing for inhalent and ingested allergens. It is therefore relevant in asthma, rhinitis and food intolerances. The test takes an hour and the results are available on the day.
Patch Testing is done for contact dermatitis. It requires 3 visits, on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday usually. Patches need to be worn, on the back, usually, for 2 days (e.g Monday to Wednesday). the initial visit takes 45 minutes. People need to wait around for an hour for the middle visit.

All people for Allergy and Patch testing should be oral steroid free and anti-histamine free for at least 7 days prior to testing. Please do not put any creams on arms for 8 hours prior to testing.
