Pilates

Pilates is named after Joseph Pilates who developed the programme in the 1920’s. Its focus is the development and strengthening of postural muscles and is suitable for all levels of fitness. The exercises can be modified to suit those with a history of neck/back pain.

Pilates can be used to:

  • Improve posture
  • Prevent injury
  • Reduce neck / back pain
  • Boost Bone health (reduce risk of osteoporosis)
  • Improve muscle tone (especially tummy)
  • Increase flexibility
  • Enhance body awareness and co-ordination
  • Help with stress management

Pilates is taught usually in a group setting

  • The classes are suitable for all levels of fitness
  • There will be 11 people per class
  • It is important that you inform me of any injuries or are pregnant
  • If you have a history of low back pain or neck pain, a 1:1 session is advisable. Please phone the clinic to organize this before joining a class
