Pre-Employment Medical

What Is Involved?

The basic consultation and examination only require one visit which lasts approximately half an hour. The Pre-Employment Medical focuses of the patient's medical history, family history and current medications while the examination includes an assessment of the blood pressure, body mass index, eyesight, urine analysis and general health status of the individual.

Subsequently a written profile will be forwarded to the patient and/or to his/her employer, outlining all results and recommendations made by our doctor.

What Additional Tests Can Be Included?

These tests are performed in our clinic but only if specifically requested by the employer. It is therefore advisable to discuss this with the doctor in advance as these investigations are not part of the routine pre-employment medical. They also carry an additional fee.

  • Toxicology Screen (to assess for illicit drug use)
  • Electrocardiograph (ECG)
  • Spirometry
  • Haematology profile (FBC)
  • Liver biochemistry (LFT)
  • Kidney biochemistry (U&E)
  • Thyroid function test
  • Fasting Lipids
  • Fasting Glucose

Some of the additional tests (only if requested) are carried out in the hospital setting, which our doctor will arrange, eg.:

  • Chest Xray
  • Stress/Exercise ECG
  • Ultrasound Scan
  • DEXA Scan (for osteoporosis)
